Prism Group's Daily Summary
SENATE MAKES AN EFFORT TO AVOID SHUTDOWN...
Yesterday, the Senate advanced legislation that would extend government funding through November 17th. However, a lack of border provisions make the Senate’s plan unlikely to be supported in the House as Speaker McCarthy works to reach consensus within his party. Stay tuned to see if House leadership will be able to pass any short-term spending band-aids before October 1st.
GOP PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES TO TAKE DEBATE STAGE TONIGHT... Seven candidates for the Republican nomination for President of the United States will convene at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in California tonight at 9PM ET for their second debate.

THE STATE OF THE STATES
WHAT WE'RE WATCHING:
Seven state legislatures are in session.
Arizona Works Together, a grassroots organization, is on a mission to eliminate Arizona's right-to-work laws from the state constitution, arguing that these laws weaken union and workers' rights. The organization, led by Committee Chair Robert Nichols, aims to gather 383,000 signatures by July to put the proposed "Arizona Works Together Act" on the next year's general election ballot, despite expectations of facing significant challenges in changing the state's constitution.
California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) has vetoed a bill that would have required human drivers on self-driving trucks, a move that union leaders and truck drivers argued would protect jobs in the state. The legislation aimed to ban autonomous trucks weighing over 10,000 pounds from operating without a human driver on board, but Newsom cited existing regulations and the efficiency benefits of self-driving trucks as reasons for his veto.
