Welcome to the April Edition of our Small Business Memo.
Welcome to the April edition of the Prism Group Small Business Monthly Memo. This month has been peppered with significant developments shaping the landscape for America’s small business community—from newly implemented tariffs to evolving regulatory frameworks and updated funding opportunities. In this fast-moving environment, staying informed and adaptable is more essential than ever.
Over the past several weeks, a rapid barrage of executive orders (EO) from the Trump administration has reshaped how federal agencies interact with the small business ecosystem. These orders, many of which focused on restructuring long-standing programs, consolidate procurement channels and redefine key support systems like CDFIs and the MBDA. All of these changes will have tangible implications for access to capital, federal contracts, and local economic development efforts. While some actions aim to increase efficiency and reduce duplication, they have also introduced new uncertainty across government agencies and the private sector alike.
Additionally, new tariffs and volatility of the market present new challenges for small businesses reliant on import consistency and the stability of global supply chains. And yet, within the disruption, there are also emerging policy opportunities—particularly as Congress small business legislation gains traction in committee and lawmakers begins to further engage in the budget reconciliation process.
As always, the Prism Group team is here to help you make sense of these changes and navigate what’s next. Read on for our breakdown of the latest policy moves, upcoming hearings, and how these developments may affect your business.
Sincerely,
The Prism Group Small Business Team
