Prism Group's Daily Summary

REPUBLICANS GAME OUT 2025 STRATEGY... Incoming Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) told colleagues recently that lawmakers would seek to move a targeted border security bill under the budget reconciliation process sometime in February, and spend more time working on a subsequent tax package. Even under the special procedure – which allows certain bills to bypass the Senate’s 60-vote threshold – Republicans will be operating under slim margins in both chambers.

TRUMP TAPS FORMER CONGRESSMAN TO HEAD IRS... President-elect Donald Trump announced that he will nominate former Missouri Congressman Billy Long to serve as commissioner of the IRS. Trump is expected to remove Daniel Werfel, who currently heads the agency and whose five-year term expires in 2027, upon taking office.
