NSBA WAVES THE SMALL BIZ EXPORT FLAG AT COMMERCE... Reed Westcott of the National Small Business Association took to the Hill yesterday to tout the importance of small business exporters. In his testimony before the Senate’s Commerce Committee, Reed highlighted the vital role these companies play in their local economies and the need to ensure they have the tools to compete globally. URBAN INSTITUTE OFFERS UP REPORT CARD ON NETWORK OF CLEVELAND NONPROFITS THAT SERVE SMALL BUSINESSES... Cleveland has a strong network of nonprofit organizations that serve small businesses, but there is room to strengthen the city’s ecosystem of government, philanthropies and business service organizations, the Urban Institute said in a new report.  The Washington, D.C.-based institute said it conducted nearly four dozen interviews with leaders from local government, business support organizations (BSOs), philanthropic organizations, chambers of commerce, lenders and small-business owners to write its report, Supporting Small Businesses in the City of Cleveland.

WHAT WE'RE WATCHING: 

A Wisconsin task force recently concluded months of work, recommending policies to integrate AI education in K-12 and higher education, improve workforce development, and boost ethical AI use. Proposals will potentially be included in Gov. Tony Evers' (D) next budget. 

 

Hawaii has been awarded a $4.9 million State Apprenticeship Expansion Formula grant from the U.S. Department of Labor to create the first statewide registered apprenticeship program for K-12 teachers. This initiative will allow 142 aspiring educators to obtain their bachelor’s degrees at no cost, addressing the state's teacher shortage by providing financial support and mentorship to future teachers.
