SENATOR ROSEN LEADS COLLEAGUES IN PUSH FOR ROBUST FUNDING TO SUPPORT SMALL BUSINESSES, CUTTING BURDENSOME RED TAPE… U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV), a member of the Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee, led her colleagues in sending four letters to Senate Appropriators requesting robust funding to support a wide array of small businesses in Nevada. 

 

CHIPS, CHIPS, AND MORE CHIPS... As artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and new technologies continue to develop, the demand for more processing power and the chips that provide them continues to grow. Yesterday, AMD unveiled their new AI processors in a direct challenge to Nvidia’s growing dominance. Countries around the globe continue to invest heavily in chip manufacturing to diversify supply chains, with Japan considering new legislation to advance their chip manufacturing capabilities.

WHAT WE'RE WATCHING: 


Vermont Gov. Phil Scott (R) has signed omnibus transportation legislation that includes a new $98 annual fee for electric vehicle registration. The fee, in lieu of gas taxes EV owners don’t have to pay, will be directed to the state transportation fund.

  • Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-NJ-12) introduced a bill to require the Secretary of Labor to establish a program providing grants for job guarantee programs.

  • Rep. John James (R-MA-10) introduced a bill to award grants to local educational agencies to operate after school programs in areas with a high rate of juvenile crime. 

  • Rep. Derrick Van Orden (R-WI-3) introduced a bill to amend Title 38, United States Code, to increase the amount of educational assistance paid by the Secretary of Veteran Affairs to an eligible individual during the first year of a full-time program of apprenticeship or other on-job training.
