PROGRESSIVE POLICY INSTITUTE RELEASES REPORT ON CAREER PATHWAYS... In PPI’s Campaign for Working America’s latest report, Career Pathways: How to Create Better Alternatives to College, author and workforce development expert, Taylor Maag, presents an alternative to “college for all” policies in the form of integrated workforce development and education strategies that enable economic mobility. 


FTC CRACKS DOWN ON HARMFUL REVIEWS... Online reviews and testimonials are a key way that small businesses can attract new customers and boost sales of products.

But fake reviews and testimonials have been a persistent problem for small businesses, many of whom rely on recommendations for business. In order to combat this, the FTC has issued a final rule, banning the purchase or sale of reviews, and allowing the agency to seek civil penalties against known violators.

WHAT WE'RE WATCHING: 

Governor Brian Kemp (R) delivered the keynote address at Georgia’s Governor's Workforce Summit this year. Governor Kemp announced Georgia has been named the top state for business by Area Development magazine for an unprecedented 11th consecutive year. With a notable increase in enrollment at the state's higher education institutions, the governor set a goal to make Georgia a top state for talent. 


A new report from the Wisconsin Policy Forum shows that while statewide employment has surpassed pre-pandemic levels, more than half of Wisconsin’s counties still lag behind 2019 job figures. Although unemployment remains low, the recovery has been uneven across the state.
