THE 20 BEST CITIES FOR SMALL BUSINESSES, ACCORDING TO A NEW REPORT... In 2023, a record-breaking 5.5 million new business applications were filed in the U.S., and the U.S. Treasury reported in September that the agency is still receiving more than 430,000 small business applications a month. But while the entrepreneurial dream is alive and well, the question of where to open your business might seem daunting — and can be the most important decision of your life.
VICE PRESIDENT HARRIS TO OUTLINE ECONOMIC PLANS... Vice President Kamala Harris is expected to unveil her economic vision today through a speech and 80-page policy document, seeking to develop a cohesive economic message as voters remain uncertain of her ability to make economic progress. Per the New York Times, VP Harris is likely to emphasize her history as California’s attorney general and as vice president, where she led public-private partnerships to safeguard consumers and bolster small businesses.

WHAT WE'RE WATCHING:
As the 2024 election cycle heats up, at least 26 states have passed or are considering regulations on the use of generative AI in campaign communications. With incidents of AI being used to confuse voters already documented, lawmakers are dealing with a fragmented patchwork of rules while working to keep the technology in check.
Governor Kathy Hochul (D) launched the One Network for Regional Advanced Manufacturing Partnerships (ON-RAMP) program. The program is a $200 million investment to establish four workforce development centers in Upstate New York, and will train New Yorkers in high-demand industries like semiconductors.
